What is a School Psychologist?
School psychologists have received specialized training in both psychology and education. Their primary role involves assessing and evaluating students' learning and behavior, providing counseling and intervention services, collaborating with teachers and parents to develop strategies for student success, and advocating for the needs of students within the school system.
Are you a Parent Advocate?
I work as the role of psychologist consultant within the educational context to support students. Whereas parent advocates focus on advocating for the rights and needs of individual students and families, my role as psychologist consultant is to provide professional expertise and consultation to parents to support the broader understanding of their child's strengths and weaknesses and to promote positive outcomes for each child and their unique needs.
Will you attend an IEP meeting?
I can help parents understand what to expect and prepare what questions to ask at the IEP meeting. However, at this time I am not available to go to the meeting with the parents.
What geographic area do you serve?
I can serve any parent remotely via zoom meetings. If in person meetings are requested, I support the metro Atlanta area, specializing in East Cobb, Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Marietta, Woodstock and Kennesaw.
How do I pay?
A complimentary phone consultation is set up to see if our services are the right fit for you and your families' needs. Accepted forms of payment are credit card, via PayPal, and Venmo. All payment is due prior to the meeting date.
Why don't I just go back to the psychologist that tested my child for questions?
Sometimes you will get all your questions answered. However, at times you leave the review session more confused than when you started. It is also common to have questions that arise later after digesting the information. Parents want to understand more about their child and not just how their strengths and weaknesses impact educational achievement or school. Our services give a more personalized approach, helping you break down the terminology and jargon of the report. When a more holistic approach is used you will be better able to support your child moving forward. It helps the information become fluid and dynamic rather than just a sample in time.
